Hedwig

My new step-nephew had a birthday (he was the boy side of the giant cupcake) and he is crazy about Harry Potter! Well, we have something in common. Unfortunately I didn’t know about that until the morning of the party. So I had made his cake and the orange kitty for his sister, but had no gift for him.
So I started making him Hedwig the minute I knew he was a Harry Potter fan. That was at 11:00. They were to arrive at noon.
Thankfully, their family is chronically late. So at 12:30 they come in an I have Hedwig about half done. Her body needs a few more stitches. But her wings, tail, and all her tiny black feathers and beak are still nonexistent. I was sad that I didn’t finish her in time, but when I told Sam what I was making, I was rewarded with a giant hug, and an exclamation of “that’s the coolest thing ever!!!”. So about two hours later (I took a break to eat some veggies and a nice juicy burger) she was complete and resting in her new owners hands.

I wish I had more pictures of Hedwig… but Sam was so completely delighted with her that he took her home at once and I haven’t seen her (or Sam for that matter) since.  Hopefully they are happy together.
